It’s been a while since I’ve said hello, and for that, my apologies. It’s been a crazytastic and wonderfully busy few months. But alas, I am back.
First off, I want to say thank you for stopping by and checking out the blog for La Dolce Vita Weddings. As I was perusing some of my older posts, I realized that I didn’t really have a lot of information about me and some of my favorite types of brides to work with. How would you know if we would be a good fit for each other unless you knew about me?
So, I decided to create a little mock interview to myself, but really, these are questions that I have received over the last year about me, what type of business we are, and what type of couples that I love to work with.
1) How did you get started with planning weddings? Honestly, it’s the old cliché of “well, I planned my wedding” which you ask any wedding vendor and this is almost the kiss of death. But, it’s the truth. I got married in 2007 and had such a blast planning and designing my own wedding. However, I took a more methodical approach, some might say, OCDish to planning the wedding. But, when you’ve invested so much of your own time and money into something, sometimes you just have to walk away to let it breathe, which is precisely what I did. I didn’t re-visit the idea of launching a wedding planning business until late 2008, and through many discussions with my husband, and family, I decided to move forward with the business. I have been slowly establishing La Dolce Vita Weddings the last 15 months. I believe that I need to learn from the industry experts, understand the “who’s who” of the local wedding professionals, as well as just be a friendly face and say hello!
However, it is worth mentioning that I was in love with the idea of running my own business. I enjoy seeing an idea come to fruition, along with proper planning and execution. As such, La Dolce Vita Weddings (means “The Sweetest Life” in Italian) was founded in April 2009. I have spent the last year deliberately moving at a slower pace, developing relationships with the wonderful Colorado wedding community (THANK YOU!) and being mindful of what I want La Dolce Vita Weddings to represent.
At the end of the day, my ultimate commitment and responsibility is to my clients. I want to make sure that when you hire La Dolce Vita Weddings you know upfront what to expect, and that we are as transparent and agreeable as possible. Which leads me to my next question –
2) What underlying philosophies or values guide your business? At the core of my being, I value integrity, commitment and service; service to our clients & community. Transparency is imperative. At the end of the day, I’m a girl from Wyoming – I was raised with ethics & morals and those values have only become stronger as I get older. Being chosen to assist/design one of the most important days in a person’s life holds very strong to me – I work diligently to protect your vision and implement with flawless execution. Working for a major corporation for 13 years provided me with valuable “real world” lessons on how to treat people, how to negotiate tactfully, and most importantly, cultivate and nurture relationships.
3) What type of couple do you like to work with? Well, I am a people-person and I typically get along with most everybody. However, I have found that I work well with those individuals that know what they want, but need assistance in executing their ideas and pulling it all together. I love couples that use technology to their advantage e.g. Facebook, smartphones, SKYPE, email, text, etc. In this mobile society and with our busy schedules, it’s important to be reachable, especially when planning a wedding, whether locally or from afar. I use today’s latest technology to make sure my couples always know what is happening.
My plan is to continue to update this page as I receive more questions about myself and La Dolce Vita Weddings. I would love to hear from you – what do you love most about weddings?
Until next time, all the best!
A few things I wanted to add :
:: Love Chipotle. Could eat there every day. Naked burrito, chicken, cheese and sour cream. Simple pleasures
:: Fanatic about dog rescue. Volunteer transporter for Doberman Rescue of Colorado. Adopt. Adopt. Adopt.
:: If I wasn’t a wedding planner, I think I would be a ghost hunter. And open a dog rescue. All at the same time
:: Apparently I’m a horrible joke teller. And story teller. But that won’t stop me from trying to entertain you. Sorry in advance.
:: I really love what I do. And I hope you allow me to show you how much I love what I do.
