I came across this in a recent Modern Bride magazine and thought I would pass it along:

Here’s how to time the evening to ensure everyone has a blast (based on a 5 pm ceremony & a full seated dinner)

6:00 – Cocktail Hour

6:45 – Guests move into the area where dinner will be served

7:00 – DJ or Band announces the bridal party & couple

7:10 – Host welcomes everyone, and the first course of the meal is plated

7:25 – Best man and maid of honor make their toasts to the couple

7:35 – The main dinner is served

8:00 – Bride & groom have their first dance, then father/daughter & mother/son dances follow

8:15 – Dancing begins

9:30 – The wedding cake is cut and champagne or coffee is served

10:30 – The last dance is announce (be sure to play an upbeat song!)

10:45 – Newlyweds make their grand exit

11:00 – The rest of the guests depart

The key to a fun & relaxing reception is to have some-what of a timeline, keep it upbeat and entertaining for you & your guests, and don’t be afraid to do things YOUR way!

Until next time, Happy Planning!
